Problem with Live 403 and NI Electronic Inst Vol2

Post by saulbass » Mon Oct 04, 2004 2:53 pm

Live 4.03
NI Reaktor 4.13
NI Elect. Inst. Vol 2
Win XP SP1
Asio4all or Edirol Asio

Everything works fine when I load the ensembles from Native Instruments Electronic Instruments Vol 2 into Live, but when I come to reload a saved song with these same instruments, Live crashes immediately with:

"A serious program error has occured.......restart application" - at which point I have to quit live using the windows task manager.

(I am using the Accord and Photone ensembles in this instance.)

I've tried creating songs with Cubase SX2 and these ensembles and they seem to reload just fine.

Not sure if it's a Live or Native Instruments problem.

Other Reaktor Ensembles work ok inside Live and reload happily...

It's annoying as I cannot reload the songs I've just made.

Hi saulbass,

Could you give the new beta Live 4.0.4b1 a try?
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13089

If it still crashes, please send the log file of Live to [email protected].

Normally the log file is located in:
"C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Ableton\Live 4.0.4b1\Preferences\Log.txt"

The "Application Data" data folder is invisible by default so maybe you have to change your settings.

regards,
Alex

Ok will try the beta tomorrow if I have time.

For what it's worth, if I move the actual ensembles out of the folders where Reaktor is looking for them then Live will successfully load the project. I can then manually tell Reaktor where the actual ensemble has been moved to and it then loads and runs ok. A very awkward work-around as it means I have to manually move the ensembles to a new location each time I want to load the Live project.

I don't know if this helps you understand what might be happening...

The only other thing I can think of is that the Accord ensemble has it's own internal sequencer which may be effecting Live in some way.

Sadly 404b1 still crashes when I try to reload a Live project which has the Accord/Photone ensembles loaded.

I have emailed Ableton the crash log

Live hangs

I have the same problem with the Korg Legacy VSTi. When creating a song and saving, and when i reload the file again, Live hangs and need to use the task manager.

I use 4.0.3 with Firewire 410.

FYI - I have just recieved an email from NI stating that this problem may be fixed in a future update to Reaktor...
