Hi,
The sound of Live stutter and slows down when I open the GUI of either Arturia CS-80V, Minimoog, Moog Modular V 2. I'm using the latest Live demo (4.0.3) and demos of the Arturia VSTi's. When the GUI of any of these VSTis are closed, the sound is not stuttering. The CPU meter in Live is very low (7% when playing the default sound of Moog Modular V 2). I suspect it has something to do with the graphic redrawing of the VSTi's, since the stuttering stops if i just open an explorer window and maximize it in front of live.
I've tried the demos in Cubase SX 2 and the they all work with no stuttering. I have not had any problems with other VSTi's I've tried in the Live demo (including Fabfilter One and NI Kontakt). Any ideas of what could be the problem? I really want to upgrade to Live 4 and be able to use the Moog Modular V 2 (amazing sound!) with it.
Edit: Note that the sound stutter regardless if i use my FW410 or the internal soundcard of my laptop (using ASIO4ALL). The problem doesn't go away if i increase buffer size either! I've tried to write about this on the Arturia forum aswell but their forum software dont seem to work that well.
My setup is
Live 4.0.3 demo
Sony VAIO P4 2.81Ghz 512MB RAM
M-Audio Firewire 410
Arturia VSTi's causes stuttering sound
No it's not the white noise demo limitation. I'm aware of that limitation. I recorded some sounds through my mixer desk and into sound forge so you can hear the sound stuttering I'm talking about:rikhyray wrote:last week when Arturia distributor gave me their demo CD, told me there will be some distortion or beeps every 10-15 seconds ( dont remember exactly now). Perhaps this is the problem , the demo version ? I never put demos or freeware on my computer so cannot confirm it.
Arturia CS-80v - using default patch. First a note is played while the GUI is closed. Then ( at 0:08 ) I open the GUI and sound start to stutter. (The white noise burst at 0:06 is the demo limitation at has nothing to do with the bug).

Arturia Moog Modular V 2 - using the patch called KS_DerRaum. The patch uses the internal sequencer of the MMV2. First it is played with the GUI closed then I open the GUI at 0:16. It appears to be exactly the same bug as the CS-80V.

The minimoog also stutters like this. When I did these recording I also experienced another bug - on several occasions when I tried to open the CS-80v GUI an empty window without the CS-80V graphics opened. Very strange indeed.
I should also point out that I'm using Windows XP SP2

Hi Jah,
I had a very similar problem with CS80 and an Edirol FA-101. If you click on the little animated fans on the GUI to stop them it reduces the problem (but doesn't get rid of it entirely) which led me to think it was something to do with the graphics card. I eventually tracked it down to my nVidia display drivers. After uninstalling them the stuttering was gone so I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers and the problem was permanently gone. Furthermore I discovered that this had in fact been affecting ALL of my VSTi (not just Arturia) because now I can run cleanly at 2 or 3ms whereas before it was around 7ms (with clicking from CS80 if the GUI was open)
Hope this helps.
