As suspected that Automap in preference was part of Automap Universal. I removed it since at the moment have no idea of wht use it can be and since everything I want works as i want why complicate things.
BTW. I have selected remote on the Port 1 in/out because of faderfox, I dont think you need it checked unless like myself you have another controller hooked to SL.
If you still have problems you might need to check Global setting on SL. This you must do with the manual since they naming is bit confusing. Once you know what they mean by what it becomes easy.

i've read all these posts and the manuals and i still don't get it.
all i want to do is be able to assign knobs on the fly to different plugins and control multiple plugins at the same time (say a delay regen and a filter freq cutoff on 2 diff. plugs). everytime i assign a control and then unclick the MIDI button in ableton, the SL goes right back to the automap, even if i was on a different template. that is not cool.
also, it seems with automap if i assign something to a CC it doesn't tell me what i've assigned it to. i have no problem making templates using the sl editor and that's what i'd prefer to do, but if this switching back and fro to the damn automap template keeps happening, i'm going to throw this crap out the window.
Did you not read a THING I told you?

yo - it's an unmoderated forum, that stuff happens.radioactivesandwich wrote:next time just accept the fact that sometimes a manual doesnt make sense to everyone the first time around... no need to be an asshole.Geezus wrote: The only douche in here dumb enough to try and help your dumb ass. next time read a fucking manual
for example, check this out, for some reason Scholarly Gent has a mancrush on Beats Me, when Beats Me starts a thread Gent pops up with loving words like this
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 072#714072
I guess Beats Me rubbed Gent the wrong way one time and now he's bursting with love. maybe now you too have your own manadmirer.

Mommy?
I don't care about any of this right now, but I did just visit your website and I must say - though I don't know which one you are - you're both very pretty.

why thank you! i'm the one with all the holes in my head
i didnt know this was unmoderated. it's amazing how rude people can be when others have confusion. i'll never understand it. i guess that's just the way people are. but hey, how can i complain, i love it when people have crushes on me! i love you too geezus!
to everyone here that WAS helpful (TD especially), we greatly appreciate it. now we just need to figure out why impulse isn't responding, but we'll do that after our show so we don't screw anything up.
if anyone here lives in NY/northern Jersey, come out to QXTs on July 4th for the set, and if you live near Dayton OH, we'll be playing a weekend long psy festival the last weekend in August on some farm somewhere. come one come all!

Yeah, Tone is the man. I'm a major douchebag asshole, but I like to think I ply my craft with wit and good cheer; and never when someone is legitimately asking a question about Ableton or music or technique. I have standards, after all. *cough* Geezus came out of nowhere and just sucker punched you when you were down which is, um. the Big Fucking Fail.radioactivesandwich wrote:why thank you! i'm the one with all the holes in my head

nukewich - I've been using my laptop outside the studio lately, tonight I put it back in, connected the SL and other stuff. the SL wasn't working. a few reboots and dorking around later I opened the automap server, it was running the the taskbar. all I did was open the window and close it, then I fired up Live and the goddamn thing started working.
prior to that it would get the text on the LCD but no keys, no fader movement, I didn't try much else.
hth. reboot, open the automap window from the taskbar, close the window, launch Live.
weird shit.

I don't know about ruining my life, but Automap is certainly taking over... ever since I got the Nocturn. I just have this irresistable urge to (re)map every plug the first time I open it. The middle rotary is cool to experiment with because it'll even control other stuff like scrolling thru tracks on Flash media players on the net and all sorts of kooky stuff.

1. you can't save a plugin preset as off and drop it in and have it be off... it ill automatically be on.
2. if you save a preset (say a filter) as a new preset, then load it in, when you hit the reset buttons on automap, it resets it to the ORIGINAL preset, not the one you created... LAME.
