I had my machinedrum running fine in previous versions of live, via the 828. I had to unplug everything and now I cannot seem get any md input or arm a track in live (I can only hear the md through the headphone port of the 828, as well as see it when I arm a MIDI track, but I cannot hear it through Live or route it to an audio track)...sorry to be an imbecile, but I only had to do it once before and that was a long while back. could someone please give me the very basic steps?
thanks,
j.

How about I re-phrase this : how to you go about monitoring ANY 'external audio device' in Live with the 828 mkII? Yes, it is as basic as that but I cannot make a new audio clip with my MD. Should I be using Soundflower? Does this relate to the missing input/ouput thread of Live 4? Please help.

Thanks Uli for your reply -- however, I accidently deleted both emails before reading them in full, thinking that it was a 'reply notification'. If you still have them, could you re-send?
Btw, I did download again 4.03 and it made no difference.
Thanks,
j.

you might have to enable the inputs. try going into Live's audio preferences and clicking the "configure inputs" button. it will then let you choose which inputs to use from the 828 and whether to configure them in stereo or mono. then go into session view and (in an audio track) choose the motu interface from the top drop-down list and choose which input (or input pair) you want to use from the second drop down list. that should be it!

thanks guatamaham (and uli and ableton support).
for some reason i can only use 2 and 3 as inputs (or was that 3 and 4?) and i had long since forgotten that. So I lost my mind trying to monitor 1 and 2.
So now i have no mind and it feels pretty good.
cheers,
j.
