Cannot enable Multiprocessor Mode - Please help...

Post by Troy33 » Fri Jul 04, 2008 11:09 am

I have just installed Live7.07. In the CPU tab of the preferences window, I cannot enable Multiprocessor Mode. The button does not react when I click on it. I am sure I have a PC that has a Multiprocessor.

Here are my system properties:
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz 2.99GHz, 992 MB of RAM

ACPI Multiprocessor PC Driver version:
5.1.2600.0
Device Instance ID:
ROOT\ACPI_HAL\0000

Processors in Device Manager both show this Device Instance ID:
ACPI\GENUINEINTEL_-_X86_FAMILY_15_MODEL_4\_0

What can I do?

Thank you,
Troy

How can I tell? In my device manager I expand the 'Processors' and it lists 2 processors not 1.
Equipment: Custom PC XP Home, Multiprocessor 3GHz 3GHz 1Gig RAM, Live7.07 with EIC2, M-Audio Ozonic, 1.0 Plate 3.25 Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies, 8oz. Glass of Milk

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_4

"They also integrated Hyper-threading (HT), a feature to make one physical CPU work as two logical and virtual CPUs."

That's why you get this confusing multiprocessor message.
