looking for this snare

I want to know from where it comes from? I don't have any snare that sounds like that in my library. So where the hell? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What's your library based on? Real drums? Drum machines? I only have laptop speakers right now, so I can't listen to it properly... what's different to all your other snares? Perhaps you can upload one as an example of your other samples, then I can tell you what you can do.

Mainly drum machines, I got a lot of 808 samples. I would upload a sample, but the snares are to varied. Like all the snares I have, have this hard hit, but this one has this soft nudge kind of sound.

Have you tried samples of real drum kits? They normally have a bit more "punch" than the 808 has... maybe that is what you're looking for.

I still didn't listen to your sample on the studio monitors, but my first guess was either a real drum kit snare or a layered snare consisting of a noisy electronic snare and a real one.

Real snare drums vary in sound very much (what your're describing can be achieved by different playing positions), so maybe you will have to look around for quite a while.

Also you should try a gated reverb....

It sounds like a generic electric drum snare that you would have gotten out of any number of beatboxes produced in the 1980's or early 90's, such as a Linn Drum snare or a Simmons Electronic drum.

yeah i guessed it was a real snare mixed with an electronic one. the reverb is a must it adds a nice effect to it. thanks man

DMX snare sound in Live 7 drum machines is identical if you put the tune up to around 100. So if you got drum machines then you have this sound already.

hey Darthsounds....where did you find the recording you uploaded? is that from an album?

as for the 808....not even close. i've been trying to produce this snare sound for awhile (as i'm guessing every Ed Banger fan has). the problem with real snare recordings is that they usually have too much ring, or the snares aren't white-noisy enough. i've come close by layering though....lots of compression and EQ work. i'm not really convinced that it's just an oberheim...or linn drum. if you figure it out let me know!

yeah the 808 snares are really harsh I got it from Justice but I forgot which track. Theirs also this warmth to the snares.

The Roland 707 is a good starting place for this kind of snare, and for the clicky yet full kick drum that you hear on a lot of edbang stuff.

EQ is your friend here, so you will have to apply some, as well as compress the hell out of it etc.
