Native Instruments Komplete Synths - Educational Version ???

Post by jonnytekno » Mon Jul 07, 2008 8:46 am

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a copy of the Native Instruments Komplete Synths from a friend of a friend. However, it is the educational version; does anyone know if I will be able to install and activate this, as I am not a student? Do I have to prove that I'm a student or anything?

Cheers,

Jonny

If it's been registered- no, you can't. Educational licenses can't be transferred.

If it hasn't been registered- sure you can. The time they check for the qualifier is when you originally buy it; not when you install.

Some software companies do allow educational license transfers but require educational status verification for the buyer and refuse to transfer if the buyer does not qualify (and usually charge a 20 dollar or so transfer fee).

I guess it's a lot of extra legwork to be done by the software company, hence the charge but I don't really blame NI for not allowing educational transfers. They give a generous discount on the software in the first instance which helps to compensate for this.
