New...new a 'how to'

Post by Zealot » Sat Jul 12, 2008 8:00 pm

Hello all...

New to ableton, so I need some direction.

I'm trying to figure out how to get ableton to recognize my MicroKorg, so I can automate the controls during playback.

Anyone lend something to this?
I'd be grateful...

Thx.

seriously... consult the manual

options-preferences-midi
on the port where the device is connected, find the INPUT port and set SYNC/TRACK/REMOTE accordingly. the help box in the Live GUI (lower left) will tell you what they do.

check the midi activity indicator on the Live GUI to check for a signal.

Impulse is the white keys starting on C3 (I think it's C3, maybe C2, I fergit.)

I don't have a microkorg, so I can't be sure but I seem to remeber reading that the controls send nrpn's not cc.
Live wont record or send nrpn's.

if the midi implementation on the microkorg is anything like the korg MS2000 it'll send CCs.
Its simply a matter of figuring out Live's way of doing MIDI.
