this release is not right. when I play a couple of the included demos they sound extremely bad. it seems that there's a serious issue with the time-streching engine. I can't really explain it how it sound, check it yourself.
I am on WindowsXPsp2 btw.

please ABleton test this well before you release it. this way it will take months before there will be a good working version 4. take a look how Propellerhead is doing it: no update after the offical 2.5 release of last year. test it, test it and test it!

I don't seem to be experiencing this problem. Can you give us some more information? For example, which demos are you hearing it on? Which clips are affected? At what tempos? Is the sound distorted, "warbly", like a skipping CD, or what?
I'm on XP Home (with no service packs).

sorry not much time. I am sure other people will complain about it one day.
I don't think it's the 4.0.4 version but normal Warp Mode behaviour.
When you timestretch a clip with Texture Warp Mode by slowing down the Project Tempo the result is not reproducable.
For example in Lesson 1:
Slow down Project Tempo to 60.
Record Track 3 Rhodes on a new track.
Stop playback and start over.
Compare the two clips and see it's different everytime.
So Live is not bad, but your ears are too good.
Note that under Beats Warp Mode results are reproducable.

I'm very pleased with 4.04. Have used Live as mainhost since Live 1,2,3 & now 4 - and running Reason as well. Haven't heard about these probs before, and i think Michel H's right; Abletons not bad - your ears are too good,yep..! (i've tested Live for many years now, including all earlier/4-betas/finals, and this is news to me..!) - Think you should contact the team if this continues, it seems like no-one ever had this prob like yours before..
Running XP pro SP2 on mLAN2&UAD-1 DSP card - no cracles/dropouts at all - All sweet&smooth! So I wanna thank Ableton for this important upgrade! Lets hope they'll consider getting it HT-compatible pretty soon,tho..
Good luck with your demos
(a killing joke, eh..?)
