best piece of gear you ever spilled a beer on?

Post by Johnisfaster » Mon Jul 21, 2008 7:17 am

I've spilled beer in my studio twice in the last week. Didn't get on anything but it's making me think I should stop putting beer on my work desk for sure. Made me think it might be a fun thread to hear about all the wonderful gear thats been ruined by spills in the studio.

anyone ruined a buchla? :)
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Had a little gig a few months ago, in a litlle cottage in Belgium. Had all my shit set up, including my PadKontrol for triggering clips...and in less then an hour a guy spilled his whole pint of beer all over the Pad! Bitch! Instant end of gig! And yesterday I had a friend over for a cup of coffee. I was in my studio, put down my coffee, ignited my party-sig and was all ready for some real chillnez! And then it happened...I pushed over my cup of coffee, all over my desk, flowing right to my newly purchased LiquidMix!! I was quick enough to prevent it from drowning. NO MORE FUCKING DRINKS IN MY STUDIO!!

Drunken girl at the bar spilled beer over the Technics turntable (not mine) and the MBP (mine). No immediate damage done, though the MBP still smells a bit funny...

Good thread!

I spilled beer all over my bcf2000 just a week ago. I cleaned it up as best as I could with some glass cleaner, continued on through the rest of the night with out a problem three days go by with out using it I got inspired one night turned it on loaded up live, loaded up a session and the motors started to make grinding noises ...I had to take the whole thing apart and clean each peace clean. Four day old Blue Moon doesn't wipe clean easily.

I spilled beer over a friends Korg Polysix. No problem in itself but the open air was quite dusty so i headed immeadiately to the sound engineer guys tent and ripped the thing apart, it works fine till today.
hint: never borrow friends gear for open airs...

a true tradegy i can sympathise with.

as for drinks and gear, i put my drinks on a stool which sits beside the desk my music desk. worst i get if i knock it over is a wet floor, and i just reach my hand down to pick up drink, no turning involved.(makes me sound really lazy).

these are all sad tales, but worth hearing so we are all warned.

I spilled coke over my Trigger Finger 6 month ago in my studio. I also hairdried it and it was fine again. Now I always put my drinks at the edge of the table so that if I should hit again it would blast on the floor. Better there than on my gear
