How big is he?krank wrote:I don't get how he ever got that big. Anyone care to explain?
Anway - he did two very good albums; Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral. And I quite like Ghosts since he has toned down on his (on later years) awful singing and guitars. It makes for good listening.

NIN was my favorite band in high school, I'm 31 now and have to say I still listen to them. I think "Year Zero" and "Ghosts" was really good. I don't care much for "The Slip" though. My taste in music has changed so much and honestly the thing that I dislike the most is his angst filled lyrics, It sounds silly coming from a 40+ year old. Year Zero's lyrics I liked...It wasn't the same old king of sorrow shit. I'm not the biggest Manson fan but "AntiChristSuperstar" fucking rocked and Trents hand were all over that.
I don't understand why any of these artist get critically acclaimed... but I do enjoy a lot of NIN's music. Just my opinion.

My question is why even bother paying attention to him then? Before reading this thread I had no idea his last record was called ghosts.b0unce wrote:and anyone who's done a GHOSTS remix is a scabby bell-end.
Reznor has always been industrial light, which makes about as much sense as soft rock. People like this shit, but I'll never understand why? I mean the guy puts some serious attention into sound design, puts it all to a typical, boring rock melody, then whines over it, completely killing any chance his sound design work had of being interesting.
I usually don't dog on performers, it's silly, but Trent in every interview I've read throws out the name of some band that's currently doing OK that he dogs, another reason why I didn't even know the name of his last record, and why he deserves flack.
