Many many years ago when i lived in California I was in my studio at the time of the Northridge earthquake. Well there was a large cup of coffee on my desk which spilled on to my Synclavier I had at the time, Before I could blink the damn thing sparked and caught fire.

After i put the fire out I sat there thinking ain't this some shit, I did however get it fixed (it cost a bloody mint!) ended up selling it 6 months later my lesson for that day was never ever, ever have liquids near gear that is plugged into a power socket!! and I should know better...but then again shit happens.

Not beer, but:
I was wrestling with my 2-1/2-year-old (at the time) kid and spilled a cup of chocolate milk on my new Macbook (at the time). It had a lid on it (the milk), which would have helped HAD I NOTICED that we spilled it... but I didn't for at least an hour, and the machine was filled with the chocolaty goodness. Goodness!!

BTW - Applecare doesn't cover that.

No drinks in the studio... and no studio gear outside of the studio.

Wish I hadn't read this thread.
Now I'm pissed off again.

Hmm. Haven't spilt any beer or anything on my gear, but the last time I banged b0unce's Mum I accidently shot my load on a lovely little doily she had on her end table.

Does that count?

Coke (the liquid type) all over my Yamaha 01v. Stupid.

It still works great, but I learned my lesson... no liquids near the gear.

Basic common sense, really...

thats not a fool proof plan... sometimes you're holding the beer when you spill it.

what freaks me out is I've spilled twice VERY close to my monome 128. not only would that be an expensive mistake but it would probably take me 6 months to a year just go get another one since they only sell when hell freezes.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

never myself. But a couple of years ago, had some random idiot spill drop his open beer bottle on the mixer as he leaned over to make a request

Luckily, the mixer didnt short out or anything... at least, not that night. Wasn't my mixer, so i never knew if it ever crapped out as a result eventually. However, we had to stop the music for a couple minutes while we did our best to clean up the mess. Was quite a downer.
