VSTs are not in the specification for ReWire. just because some developers do it doesn't mean everyone else should.

remember the 'fun' we used to have when Microsoft ignored HTML standards and starting doing what the hell it liked?

perhaps it's time for Rewire 2

I know, but there are some programs out there which can do it (project5 for example). standards are important, but to have vst in rewire too. :-)

Live + M4L, MacBookPro & Ultralite mk3. Plugins from Softube, Soundtoys, Eventide, 2CAudio, Cytomic, AudioDamage, OhmForce, FabFilter, SonicCharge, Waves, MadronaLabs, NI and ExpertSleepers. Oh, and a bunch of hardware... =D

Care to explain? All I know is that live supports rewire. Do you want a live wrapper to be able to play the vst in rewire mode? What for? To use Live as a slave to Reason? Thx.

When live is running as a rewire slave, you can't use VST effects and instruments in it, only the live native ones. That is just retarded.

this applies to Audio Units as well. I want to be able to work up an idea in Live and then run that idea (usually a beat or loopy type thing) with live in Rewire slave mode to main main DAW application.

+1 for sure.

vst in rewire

Yeah, this is a must. I question whether to upgrade to 7, without being able to run my own VIs inside of Live as a Rewire slave.

Live's VIs and internal sounds are pretty weak (even with all the options purchased), and Live's mixing capabilities compared to Pro Tools are obviously pretty amateur as well. But it's workflow and performance capabilities are stellar. Doesn't really make up for having to use Live's own VIs when running as a slave... and so I don't really use Live as much as I would like.

Unless there is a workaround for VIs? It would be great to use Kontakt as my sampler for the drum rack, for example... while a rewire slave.
