Emagic Midi device Sync problem ?

Post by dlf » Thu Jul 24, 2008 12:18 pm

Hello there,

We've been having some serious problems while trying to sync a couple of macboos and -pro's together trough MIDI.

---

The problem is clear and persistent; the BPM received on the 'slave' computers is double of the BPM sent out on the 'host' computer. f.i. when the host sends 150 bpm, the slaves receive 300 bpm.

We've tried all the various ableton midi pref settings for sync, didn't help.

Now here's what I think the problem is :

This specific sync problem only occurs when using the Emagic MT4, AMT8 or Unitor8 MKII midi interfaces on the sync host computer.

All the macbook(+pro's) run the latest Ableton Live 7 and Apple osX 5 versions, the Emagic drivers for the midi interfaces are installed with the latest Logic Pro installer (same as on the apple download pages for emagic legacy support).

There are no problems with other midi data sent or received through these devices.

One other thing to note : When working on the same sync host machine, with a setup where Logic Pro 8 provides the midi sync to a Nordlead G2 through any of the Emagic midi devices mentioned above, there are no problems whatsoever ?

---

Is this a know bug ? Is there any working solution (other than using a different host midi device) ?

Thanks !

Gideon

Hi Gideon,

you recently wrote to our support address and got an answer.
