everybody is all over the phatness of the synth's sounds and people barely bring up the creative potential of the synth. zebra's featureset and abilities COMPLETELY blow away sylenth as far as possibilities go. You can MAKE something phat with some detuned osc or chorus or a number of things, but you can't load up a multipoint step sequencer to modulate a comb filter in sylenth.glitchrock-buddha wrote:Yeah I've tried the new 'eleven' oscillator. Not bad at all. I still have to give the nod to sylenth1 for it's osc, as well as excellent filter. I find some synths sound either warm/phat or crisp and clear, not often both. Syylenth1 really nails it all at once. Zebra2 is very crisp (I still say not as phat), but probably the best synth out there for sitting nicely in a mix. So they are definitely a great pair to have.
SYLENTH 1..works a dream in Live 7...
it sounds good for sure, and believe me if I had a shitlaod of money to blow I'd probably buy it, but i get tired of people espousing its "amazingness" when there's nothing truly that amazing about it except it sounds nice for how much cpu it uses. Its still a really limited synth compared to what other people are doing these days. Fine for simple sounds but doesnt come close to the possibilities that other synths provide.nebulae wrote:Geezus is a Sylenth hater. What did Sylenth ever do to you?
Discriminata. Hata. Traita. Instigata. Bad-mouth-a!
hehe, sorry, brutha, there's no way I can let you get that in as the last word after a 7-pager on how great Sylenth1 is.
I'll retort by saying that it's simplicity is its strength. Its power comes from what you can do with it, not from the potential sounds from infinite feature sets. I agree with you that other synths are less limited, but Sylenth1 gets the job done time and time again.

fair enough. again, if I had the money, I'd probably buy it. But when I already own massive, absynth, zebra, minimonster, etc...I really dont NEED itnebulae wrote:hehe, sorry, brutha, there's no way I can let you get that in as the last word after a 7-pager on how great Sylenth1 is.

Now THAT is a demohttp://www.u-he.com/zebra/songs/Berlin%20Sequence.mp3
A tune by Urs Heckmann that captures the spirit of the Berlin School of electronic music. 11 Zebras using factory patches, some drums from Oldskool patch collection and a custom patch for the noise groove... yep, it's all Zebra - just a limiter on the master.
I said this already, but go to http://www.lennardigital.com/modules/sy ... listen.php and listen to the Secret Cinema demo as well as my remix of Techno Squirrels. Call it a love letter to Sylenth
