I have a VideoApp built in Jitter and want to use MIDI messages from Live 4.0 to control some edits/switches etc. Especially from Impulse. I have ran tests and can recieve MIDI data from Live in Max but can't specify a channel anywhere in the Live Pref's. Is this possible w/in live anywhere. Ideally different triggers would be sent on different channels etc. so that multiple variables could be controlled w/out conflicting w/ each other. Right now I don't even want to go past the testing stage because if i can't separate the data some way then there is really no point.
Max/MSP 4.3 / Jitter 1.2
Live 4.0
OS 10.3
P.S. If this is more of a Max question involving midiin / midiparse objects etc. I would still gratefully appreciate a reply or example patch
Max/Jitter and Live 4.0.........MIDI talk
Re: Max/Jitter and Live 4.0.........MIDI talk
I just answered my question. I was, as of about 1 min, not aware of /familialr with Live 4.0 Clip View > Notes > Program selection or MIDI track >Channel selection.
Everything is talking now!!!
I'm still open for optimization suggestions etc. if anyone has any.

Have you tried configuring the Apple IAC (inter-application communication) MIDI bus in Audio MIDI Setup? This will show up as a standard MIDI interface in Live and MAX allowing you to send MIDI both directions, across multiple "cables" not just channels... so if you were to need to divide your data into more than 16 channels this could help.
I cant think of a sig
IAC Driver.......... kind of working?
Thanks I was not at all familiar with the IAC Driver Settings. I just had it working in "duct tape" form and will post back with any defined problems etc.
You might also want to consider Midi Patchbay, a cocoa application that specializes in what you think it might based on the name. I've got a good number of channels 'tween Max and Live this way.
