warping with a tempo slightly higher than the original tempo

The warping artefacts seem to be gone when I choose a tempo higher than the original tempo for warping a song.
Since the new tempo is higher the warping algorithm doesn't need to synthesize and fill in part but only choose small parts to be left out. Am I right about this?
