What is the smallest laptop that will play live 7?
I WANT IT FOR GIGS
won't be making any music on it, will be set up on my desktop, then copied to the mini laptop.
will need to play like 6 tracks simultaneously.
no FX

thanks!
19 pages is 18 pages too many!
I was hoping for some specific suggestions.

What if this thread becomes 19 pages? Will you stop looking into it after the first page?

I suggest using same machine in studio and on stage.
that way theres no nasty surprises.
Just plug a screen into it in the studio.
my 2c
MBP 2.4GHz, 4Gb RAM, OSX 10.5.5, Live7Suite, Motu Ultralite Mk3, ADAM p11A

TY
but I've got 2 machines in the studio already!
I will practice on the mini machine, but don't need it as a track making machine.
I have a disabled arm you see, so I want to make my live setup as compact as possible.

I don't mind if this thread spreads over a few pages. I just didn't fancy the idea of looking through 19 pages, without any guarantee that I would find what I was looking 4

looks like this site comes with it's own built in thread killers.
look into the Lenovo Line , there are some very small and powerful machines for not too much cost.

Well, I was just fucking with ya, but in my opinion, almost anything works, and as long as you're going the Windows PC route, I think you can even find a machine that will do the job for under $500.
I have seen ads in my local paper for models in the $200-300 range.
What do you really need?
At least 2GB or Memory, and 2.something of processing?
That's probably more than enough...

i think every laptop which is now sold will handle 6 tracks without FX....
Problem is, small Laptops are expensive.
sony has some really small subnotebooks (with 11" screen) which are nice but very
expensive.
Lenovo has a new ultra portable as mentioned
you could buy a macbook air (which i would NOT do for music - expensive and just
one usb port)
you could have a look if you find a cheap old Powerbook 12"
you could have a look at tablet PCs
Samsung makes some ery affordable 12" notebooks (don t know if they got firewire)
Dell has the XPS 12, which you can at least specify yourself
and, IMHO, if you carry also an audio interface and perhaps other things for your music,
it won t make that much difference if the Laptop is 11, 12 or13"
Just buy an old shitty Lappie, everyone will play 6 Tracks
another option could be a mac mini and a really small display

I think I'm sold, I'll take one. Do they throw in the laptop as well?
