Yeah! Works perfect when you dj aswell, one on each deck (espc. when you have them on mic stands):D I had my AirFX on one deck and a kaoss pad 3 on the other last time I was on stage, a really nice experience..oblique strategies wrote:I'm going to get another one so I can have one for each hand!

I have a Kaoss Pad 1. I sometimes velcro both the AirFX & KP1 onto a stand on either side of my laptop, & velcro a MIDI controller in front of the lappie. Nice rig.
I am going to get a KP2 at some point. How do you like your KP3? Ever use a KP1 or 2?
which stand do you use? i have quite a similar rig and scratching my head about purchasing a flight case with detaching top for keyboards and putting this on regular X-standoblique strategies wrote:

I belongs to a friend but i managed to borrow it for almost 6 months, I really liked the functionality but still don't know if it's the tool for me. The samplingfunction seems nice but never got a real grip of it. I want to pick up a monome maybe, or if I can afford it - lemur jazzmutant. How's the KP1 & KP2?oblique strategies wrote:I am going to get a KP2 at some point. How do you like your KP3? Ever use a KP1 or 2?
Yep, found a guide here on the forum: http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= easy to do, maybe I'll repaint it again in a different color:D8O wrote:Nice... is that UC-33e resprayed?

Well, I have a few stands so I can set up a variety of rigs. I use an older version of this Quiklok stand:4.33 wrote:which stand do you use? i have quite a similar rig and scratching my head about purchasing a flight case with detaching top for keyboards and putting this on regular X-stand

I just wiggle things around like a transformer to get the necessary configuration, which changes depending on the gear, & add velcro where necessary.
And/or a couple of these Ultimate Apex stands:

I found both the mic stand attachment, & a nice black shelf + shelf support clamp that Ultimate Stands made in limited quantities for these Apex stands. It's a perfect size, & the shelf clamp keeps the shelf in place. Really worth hunting down on ebay if you have an Apex stand.
Both stands are good, & I recommend them. Both can be set up high enough to get you past that hunched over a utility table look (not a super look IMO). They both fold up fairly easily for transportation & both set up quickly as well.
All in all, the Apex stand is more slick looking, & since it is based on a single column, it actually makes less of a wall between you & the audience.

I wish I had cool vintage gear, but I'm pretty much all "new school" equipment wise. My music has been a total loner hobby so I guess I really don't know what I'm missing anyways when it comes to cool analog gear....but I suppose ignorance is bliss anyways.
My favorite pieces of gear are my seventies era NAD receiver and MB Quart monitors, I know this sounds total fanboy but my favorite and most useful musical toy really is Live....it just makes arranging ideas so much easier than anything else I've tried.

Yeah, I loved the days of collection boxsets....I'm just a collection junkee....have thousands and thousands of sports cards from when I was a kid. Lately I try to keep my collection habit to music toys and books, too many old things collecting dust!
The 959 model is favorite thing to look at from where I sit doing music. Instant music mojo by just looking at it, that car reeks of sexy.

I have a KP1. It's great! But I think the advancements (like tap tempo) made in the KP2 would be nice. I have not played with a KP2 or 3 yet. The KP3 seems to have some drawbacks, so maybe the KP2 is the sweet spot -for me at least.yanquiuxo wrote:How's the KP1 & KP2?
I was recently advised to check out the Korg Entrancer -it's a Kaoss pad for both audio & video. But my VJ friend (who is quite an authority by now), says that is has poor video quality. So I'll probably get a KP2 at some point.
The battery powered one looks cool too for playing on the run!
