How about putting the notes in the bottom left ~ the help field area. Perhaps there could be a toggle button between the notes & the help displays.

Use the LESSON VIEW. Do a search in these Ableton forums. I've posted it step by step how to use them.

Clip notes
Yes, this would be good

And also maybe a notes for each session, ya know for when a session gets rewired in slave mode, and the other program changes the tempo, maybe you haven't heard it in a few days... etc.

Neat trick, but it'd still be nice to have clip notes not just project notes.

Yes, I'd love this feature...

This may sound trivial, but *personally*, if this were done, I'm hoping notes would display in a fixed font. I make a lot of guitar loops, so I'm always tabbing them out - it's a lot easier to read with monospace fonts.

A big "Yes please" from me on:

1) A Global Project Notes
(similar to the Cubase Notepad for example)

2) Clip localised notes
(which display at the mouse when hovering mouse over over clips in Session view).

My current workaround for putting "Notes" into my projects:
Create a dummy MIDI track and put different text entries into the titles of several dummy clips.
(i.e. not an ideal workaround)'

Yeah that was my idea too. Would be nice if you could see notes about clips you're browsing in the ummm...browser. Would make it easier to use Live in my DJ sets.

I like to change the name of clips, click Ctrl-E and type...

I also like to change the name on sessions..
..yes it's possible already but if you like to change tempo by session the name field are used to store the tempo info like "120 BPM".
It's hard to know which session is the one when you got multiple sessions with same tempo.

This is the same rEalm I know from several yahoogroups? ... nice to bump into you yet again !

Yes ... DEFINITELY it would be good to see text Notes stored for audio files in the browser while browsing ...

Perhaps this "meta data" could be incorporated into the .ASD format ?
(or perhaps even in the RIFF header for the actual WAV/AIFF file?)

Yeah, I know there's the work around, but I don't wanna mess with it.

I'm with tylast here, among others (uhm, thats was my idea - robbery! Police! :D )

Like: When focusing (click on) something, a clip in session or (when that comes) in the browser, the down left info field has an "Edit"-button. Clicking the button gives you a notepad there - just making the area writable.
Hovering the mouse over clips etc that you have attached notes to, shows the notes in the info area. Otherwise the default help info is displayed
A good and simple cake.
