New Ibook silent?
New Ibook silent?
Can anyone tell me if the new Ibooks or at least the "old" ones are quiter than the Powerbooks? I really want to go for a notebook and especially Mac.
But Powerbooks are still too noicy, or?
If you guarantee that the new Ibooks are as silent as the best Centrinos I sell my PC tomorrow and order the Mac right away!

Thanks for fast answears! I have always thought of the powerbook as a perfect computer for me, but when the fans kicked in on my teachers 12" I got really surprised of the noice it was making!
I thought the fans would be running quite often when using it for heavy tasks, wich kept me from buying one. And now when the Ibooks are fast and cheap they might suit me better - especially if they are quiet as well. But deep inside something tells me to go for the pro-line...
It wouldnt surprise me if the Powerbooks will be updated soon with lower pricing. The faster HDs, dvi-out and dual monitor-support might be really good to have when using the computer at home. Dont you think?

yea considering the last time the powerbooks were updated, the ibooks got a bump too. so now the ibook line and powerbook line is awfully close together, so apple will probably give one last speedbump to the powerbooks before they go G5 in 2005. i'd wait a month or two and see what happens, if you have the patience that is.

i borrowed my bosses 1Ghz before stumping up the cash for the 1.33. the 1.33 is a lot more refined in terms of heat and noise.Henrik wrote:Thanks for fast answears! i had the same desiision to make as you. i chose a 5400 drive which is an option on the p-book. the lower price of the ibook and the fact that airport is included might have tempted me the other way tho.
