MIDI/SYNC nightmare - PK

Post by Nausea » Fri Aug 15, 2008 4:13 am

Greetings,

I've been using Live for about a year and a half now and love it love it love it!

Around 6 months ago I bought a PK to use as a controller with the hopes of finding a way to hack it and use it natively. After saying no to some decent options out there, Farmpad came along and has my mouth salivating down my shirt. Even though I haven't figured out many controlling-specific options, I've begun creating my own configuration files. Farmpad indeed will be the answer.

My problem is that I haven't quite grasped the whole MIDI/SYNC tab in Live's settings. That more so is referring to when i don't wish to use farmpad and just want to hook up the PK and start using it as a controller for using Live's instruments. Until I figure out farmpad, i just want to use my PK in this way. Sometimes it works no problem, but I get crashes only when the PK is plugged in.

I'm looking for some direction in understanding Midi settings in the MIDI/SYNC tab before i go ahead and farm it out. In's/Out's/Control surface/inputs/outputs etc. This specific tab intimidates me and I hate it. I believe I've been setting these wrong which has led to some unfortunate and hair-pulling crashes.

I do have the correct drivers and my computer does recognize the PK as well as all available ports.

I've read the FM :) which is why i don't ask questions very often but this is one that I unfortunately need help with.

Please help meeee I'm frustrated.

Live 7.0.9, Operator, PK, MBP 2.16 1G Core2Duo all stock components.

PS. soon i plan on upgrading ram and internal HD and i use the left USB for the PK

Thx for reading all the way through.

N
