Being a 3d owner, the 4d looks like the same controller and is an erganomic disappointment. I have no use for the giant circular knobs in ableton and I would have loved to see them replace the pair with more knobs like the top of the mixer. Wouldn't be able to upgrade if I wanted to, but it would have been nicer for them to have done a complete redesign for a first generation product.

XONE 4D with Live
Hi Dougie,
Saw your videos on Youtube a while ago, whilst I was waiting months for my 4D to turn up. Now I've finally got it, I have a couple of queries:
1) I had heard that A&H supply a basic Ableton template, with an initial set of MIDI assignments set up - rather than having to start from scratch. Have you seen such a file ? Or was that just for the 3D ?
2) Similarly, I've also read about Ableton overlays for the MIDI buttons. Were these just a feature of the 3D too ? Or just something promised and not delivered.
3) General query: Anyone know how to assign the jog wheels to select a specific clip to play (ie. one wheel selects row, the other column). I have no problems assigning MIDI controls using the overlay - I've used Faderfoxes for some time - btut I don't know what controls select scene/track/clip dynamically.
Cheers.

not sure really other then having 2X midi controls via some kind of shift feature
i prefer to not switch my controller tho .. i like everything on one page.
honestly i havnt looked at the 4D
the 3D is not going to be for everyone, but im happy with mine. i think mostly because i still play records.
i'v had it since they released it.
