QuadFrohmage with Live 4, problems

Post by Aloy123 » Thu Oct 21, 2004 8:02 pm

Hello,

Dunno if anybody mentioned this before, but it seems that Live 4 does not "see" all the VST parameters for QuadFrohmage filter. Thus it is not possible to automate filter cutoff, etc. Certain parameters are available and automatable, but not all. It seems that Live 4 only "sees" certain number of parameter and if there are more parameters, they are not accesible via envelopes nor automatable. Am I correct?

Yep, LIVE only gives the first 128 or so I think. Was playing with the demo of Quad Frohmage, and this was disappointing, as, well, automating the filter is the nicest part, eh?

Hopefully this will change. There has been a lot of noise from users about being able to automate from the VST GUI. I would also like this, much easier way to jam and perform live. Hopefully it will get implemented. I am sure the Abletons would want this as well. Just a much more fluid way to work.

actually it is possible to automate via midi clip by binding midicontoller to plugin parameter (if plugin supports it) and routing midi to autio track where plugin is. But it is VERY clumsy way to automate. :)

thought I read somewhere that you can change the text file that QF reads on startup and remap the controllers to suit

Has anyone been able to figure out how to modify the text file that lets you choose which parameters you want to see in the top 128 in Live?

Go to tools in the QF GUI and if autoload is ticked, then note the filename and path.

In notepad (or other text editor), open the file and go to the parameter reorder section.

Then simply move the parameters (the whole line) that you want to automate to the top of the list.

Save the file with a new filename, but with a .cfg.txt extension (at least in Windows, Macs may be different), so as you don't lose the original if you accidentally FU.

Go to Tools in the QF GUI and load the cfg file and tick autoload if not already.

Delete the effect and reinsert it (If you don't then the pull down menu in Session view will not display the reordered parameters, even tho they have been changed).

Your parameters should now be listed.

Enjoy!
