[OT] Vasectomy
Two of my friends already have kids, I don't want to be next. I checked the wikipedia and got freaked out by the possible side effects. Condoms it is for me, way to high a possibility of side effects.
Two technics 1210 turntables, alot of guitars, 2gig Sony vgz fz290, 2gig frankenstein pc, mbox, ableton, flstudio, recycle, the infinity gauntlet, and alot of spare time..
That wikipedia article paints the most frightening picture, by far. I've been talking with lots of people who have had vasectomies, and with a few doctor types. The chances of residual pain seem much lower than the wikipedia article makes it out to be. Seems like the chances of unexpected pregnancy are greater, and the consequences far more severe, IMO. I've had too many friends that "used condoms" and now have kids.
Plus, sex without a condom, and no pregnancy fear, is about 10000000% better
I think it'd be weird to.. you know reach the big moment and... 'pfff' just a cloud of smoke coming from your cannon?
Macbook 1.83ghz. Ableton Live 8
. Guitars and keys and retro sh*t.

Wow,
I'm really surprised to see so many responses of guys in their 30's who have had it done. It's good to know I wasn't alone in this forward thinking.
I just don't trust women and I'm not gonna get trapped by some, "You my baby's daddy" bullshit.
Hat's off to my fellow snippets.

I won't judge someone's personal decision to not have children...it is deeply personal and who am I to judge you for it.
From my perspective only, I can honestly say that having a child has made me a much better person. I have considered a vasectomy, but we always wonder about having another one. I suppose I would get one after my wife turns 40 or so, and we figure we're done. I have met a lot of people who regret having their vasectomy too early and have changed their minds, only to find that the reversal procedure won't work.
I would say that if you and Tracy know for sure, then that's that, do it and feel good about the decision. Knowing both of you, I'm a little sad because you'd make beautiful babies and you'd both be absolutely wonderful parents. But again, do what's best for you!

Excellent, I was hoping you'd chime in! I've thought about your family many times, actually....you really got it going on with your family, still playing music...gives me something to think hard about for the next month. When I think about the possibility of having a changed mind in the future, adoption sounds like a great alternative. Of course, the idea of a little Tracy/Fred running around is quite attractive, but I have to wonder about the part of myself that wants to see that...
I'll be thinking a lot about this...if I have any serious doubts, I won't do it.
