hi
i posted this a few weeks ago, but then i went to my holidays and couldn't give you any more info.
the problem still occurs, tho.
this is what happened:
i installed live 4.0.4
i installed reaktor + upgraded it to 4.1.3 (latest version afaik)
(VST and AU)
now when starting live, the 4 VST plugs (2x reaktor + 2x reaktor FX) make live crash instantly during the process of starting up. live then suggests to skip that plug the next time and crashes cause of the next reaktor VST.
this happens 4 times, until all the 4 reaktor VSTs are disabled. live then starts normally.
now when i try to use the reaktor AU instead, reaktor gives me a "could not find AU reaktor" message.
i'm using a new PB G4 with OSX panther.
now any suggestions?

reaktor 4.1.3 crashes live 4.0.4 during startup
Two causes that I can think of off the top of my head...
1)Live may be looking at the wrong .dll if you're using a different folder than the Reaktor default.Reaktor will install the VST.dlls to the first folder labeled Vstplugin on your first drive by default, and sometimes even when you tell it to install somewhere else.Check the version number that Live's looking at and make sure it's correct.
2)Make sure Live uses the same audio settings as Reaktor as far as buffer size and outputs go.If they're set differently,Live WILL crash.
ew

hey.
thanks but i left the folders untouched and i tried setting the same audio preferences but that changed nothing.
i now tried starting reaktor in logic 6, though (the AU version), and it didn't even appear in the plugin list... so there's certainly something wrong with reaktor itself, i think i'll take this to NI's forum rather.
thanks

yup.
solved
ok i sorted it out (or NI support sorted it out for me
):
the trick is, there's an application in panther called FileVault, which protects your private files (= encrypts them).
reaktor simply doesn't work when FileVault is enabled - full stop.
just to let everyone know..
