Sampler vs Kontakt

Post by Nikolai » Tue Aug 26, 2008 11:24 am

Hi all,

I am currently learning Kontakt 2 and am thinking am I just wasting my time when theres a Sampler that Ableton offer that I could upgrade to.

Has anyone here used both and can offer a comparison. I would imagine (probably wrongly) Kontakt to be the more in depth Sampler but I only need the basic functions and also Abletons interface is so much more fun to play with. Plus its integrated.

Anything else to consider?

A little off topic but I have been successful in importing soundfont freebies in Sampler to expand my library (Honestly the import of Garage Band esx does not produce good quality intruments). Sure something NI can do but as you say it before integration and interface is key. Moreover if later plan to expand your content with EIC Sampler can help you tweak those sounds in depth.

"I did have to hit this switch a couple of times during the tour," says Russ smiling, "but it's never been a problem with the software. Kontakt has proven to be very stable. In the few cases when my system crashed, it was always caused by hardware issues."
