I want Live 8 so badly

Post by abletoff » Tue Aug 26, 2008 9:12 pm

Ad someone is probably already secretly beta testing it!

And I need another Fireface to ditch the dorky-fiddly horrible m-audio 1814 from the home rig!

Ableton in responsible for the fat I'll put in my blood to suffocate the pain with the soothing power of cheddar nachos truckloads.
Everyone must know!

I don't think live 8 should come till like 2010......

Live 7 still feels like it was just released.

Why?

What do you need?

I know that I will get Live 8, I am sure they will have great features. But we don't know what they are yet and I am still satisfied with 7.

Geezus lives in an undisclosed location, but his situation is desperate. Day after day, he struggles with a disability, a 128 paramenter disability. His hope, his only hope, is that someday, somehow, there will be a cure for this limitation. And he can begin to live.

You can help Geezus, or you can turn the page.

3 things for version 8:

i just wanna be able to midi assign the chains "solo" in the instrument racks

AND

be able to midi assign the "focus" on the sub-tracks (chains)

AND

be able to midi assign the "wrench" (open/close VST's GUI)

In a Nutshell:

I WANNA BE ABLE TO MIDI ASSIGN EVERYTHING THAT CAN BE MOUSE CLICKED !!!

My demands for Version 8:

1) Flying monkeys. I don't care how. Just makes me some flying monkeys.

2) Do more of that stuff with the thing.

3) Pizza.

4) Ah hell it doesn't matter. Live 2.1.01.2a was the best.

5) Make it where the latching mode transport mechanism inebriates coefficiently with the manifold dirigible especially when the port fade collapse goes halitosis on ivory membrane with skinfold banana wax, unless it's a bit rate variable obtrusive.

Personally I don't even feel the need of a Live 8 now.
Live 7 does what I need. I can't imagine what I need more than that.
My only frustration is that when I nest racks I cannot map the nth rack knob on the first one without mapping every superior level until the first one and this prevents me from creating complex ones. For Dual monitor setups only could be a good idea sending session and arrangement to different monitors but this has already pointed out so many times...

I think its good that they take their time, Live 7 needs to get stable. Besides, you can do everything with it. Many features people keep wishing can already be accomplished using 3rd party programs, like Midi LFOs, or a wrapper to overcome the limitation of the 128 parameters.

So right now I can´t think of a sound manipulation that I couldnt do with live (in conjunction with other programs).. All I wish for live 8 is to enhance the workflow with stuff like automation presets, curve drawing, dual screen support, etc..

Much more important to me is the Melodyne-release.

The problem here is that Ableton users have become used to waiting for a big version upgrade to see their most wanted feature installed (or not), even if it is fairly minor.

I agree that there should be no rush for 8. Of course judging by the previous patterns it may well be out late this year or early next. I'd rather see a slower turnaround with real leaps and bounds between versions. Relatively minor features and improvements should be included in free x.5 updates.

here, here!!

They really shouldn't release a v8 and say, "ok everybody, time to upgrade."

I simply wont. And I know, from reading the forums, plenty still seem to be on 5 and 6. So, Ableton must think clearly about what they are doing, and put a lot of thought into coding a version 8.

If version 8 is a must have, it will practically market itself. How long was it between max 4 and 5? Anybody know?

They've been marketing max 5 as, " max for the next twenty years."

That is what Ableton must do with an 8.

Sorta like, "Live, forward, visionary and reborn. Version 8 has '----,' then it will be so amazing, and we can all upgrade.

They once admitted they released Live 7 to early and that it was just to buggy. So i think (and hope) they learned their lesson and release Live 8 only when it is really ready and properly working.

For me the access to more than 128 Midi-Parameters would be reason enough to upgrade, even it is a shame it´s not implemented yet
