I want Live 8 so badly

Bugger it! What I'm trying to say is that Ableton needs to STOP supporting ever damn controller. Maybe they'll realize that having 8 macros per Rack is almost retarded. Maybe they'll realize they just wasted 2 valuable years to the sweet words of a company who slapped a bunch of feature requests into one controller that comes with drivers that fuck up your computer. Almost makes me wish they partnered up with M-Audio again.

Anyway, no offense to you mate. But your controller being supported wont fix your problems. Ask anybody here with a supported controller what it does for them.. "I don't have to map the first 8 volume sliders... Weeee!"

I am pretty happy with the feature set of live. I don't mind switching DAWS if I have too.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but here it goes.

You can:

A) Change the parameter numbers on your controller to match those of a controller thats already supported. In the end, your supported map will just have a different name and different CC's. Takes about 10-30 minutes depending on how easy it is to program your controller.

B) You can make your own MIDI map. Its really easy to do, you only need to enter a few numbers in a text file. I was going to give you a link to where its all explained, but it looks like Ableton removed the Live 6 beta section where this was a sticky. Its officially unsupported and its not even mentioned in the manual.
I'll try to dig up the resource, maybe google still has it cached somewhere.
This method will allow you (or any other user of your type of controller) to make your own custom MIDI map. This also takes less than 30 minutes to do.

Anyway. Thats as far as automapping controllers goes.
Support for a full euphonix desk could mean there is actually some improvement in what other users can map. But since it uses its own protocol (Eucon), it means it would only be useful with a bunch of hacks. Like with Mackie.
Ableton's current definition of a supported controller would only allow you to use about 1/4th of a full desk.

I actually used Mastertracks to sequence songs before I threw the tracks into Cubase until the late 90's. It was the only thing that kept me sane. Then there were the dark days when there was no version available for whatever OS Apple was on. Then somebody ported it and I quickly scooped it up and happiness returned.

my second sequencer was the first digital performer. That was sick. I was so excited i could RECORD AND SEQUENCE AUDIO!



but live sucks. i can't make music without parabolic curves and animated meat curtains with groove quantize. it's totally holding me down. the abes better fix that shit in 8.
