ok, so basically its mixing the dry signal with the compressed.

the explanation was making it difficult to understand.

Throw an Effects Rack on the Track with the Drum Rack. Getitgotitgood.

And I see no danger with using boosting EQ here. This Compressed track will be mixed back in to the mix quietly, so as long as you aren't causing clipping with the boost (with Live7's EQ, very doubtful) then the "reason" for boosting is just the fact its simpler to hear and do.

Really, you probably don't want to add back too much mids or else you'll muddy up the mix, really what you are most likely after are 1. better bass response on the drums and 2. increased drum presence.
The EQ step will make a difference, but its not required by law.

FabFilters Pro-C Compressor has a parallel Comp preset, throw it on a return and Bang! Bobs your uncle!! (if indeed he is I don't know?

What are the issues with the Send/Returns? Just wondering because it sounds like an easy way to do parallel compressing.

Right now I have a drum rack and I duplicated it and blended it that way. I have the kicks and snares grouped and they do not output so I could not do the Rack thing. So I copied the entire rack and effected the kick group in it and the snare group in it and blended to taste..may not be the best way to go.

nothing.

Some people just prefer using Racks, others prefer 3rd party Compressors with a mix setting.

no, it's "mix dry signal with heavily compressed and heavily eq'ed signal"
