I actually did sound for Bill (after he was prez of course) totally unexpected once at Claridges in London. I turned up for work to operate the sound for an AIDS conference and Bill was the main speaker, sitting at a table with Bono and Elizabeth taylor.nowtime wrote:Watched him speak.
I remember getting gooseflesh watching Bill Clinton speak powerfully. After 12 years of the other Bush in office, Bill wasn't a hard sell.
Obama is probably just the New Clinton.
Please prove me wrong in time.
When he was speaking I was amazed at what an inspiring and convincing speaker he was and how much I was getting sucked in by what he was saying. I always quite liked him as presidents go though, but it was interesting to see the affect these speeches can have, especially if you are in the room.
I don't get these people who say it makes no difference - how is inspiring people not changing the world? In fact you could almost argue that the only role of a leader should be to inspire people.

Mr Wheatstone, that fine elderly English gentlemen who lives down the street has just shit himself again and requests an Irish Helper Monkey. Run, girl. Quick as you can. On your bike, mate.
Stop obsessing about the US elections. Whether or not Obama or McCain wins, your country will still be a shit infested cesspool that no one wants to visit, everyone wants to leave, and hasn't offered the world a fucking thing except that godawful U2. Who, like every other piece of shit Irish band or performer, cannot crawl up America's arse hard or fast enough.
Oh uh. Mr. Wheatstone has done shat himself again. Stop reading this and on your way lad. Quick as a wink!

God no. Clinton (either one) was and is a snarky self-obsessed narcissistic a-hole that first and foremost cared about Clinton. He did some good stuff, but was basically noteworthy for not fucking things up too badly.
Oh, and the crushing fucking bank scandals that are happening? Thank Bill Clinton for that. He totally pushed and promoted and signed into law the bank reform bill of the 90s - which was nothing more than complete deregulation of the banking industry which lead directly to the shady loan deals we've seen in the past year. Fuck me. Fucking Reagan - King of DeRegulation - argued against TOO much bank deregulation for exactly the same reasons that came to fruition. When banks assume a loan, then pass that dodgy loan onto another lending institution, who then gets theirs underwritten by yet another loan clearing house, who gets that note guaranteed by Bear Fucking Stearns, who in turn finds investors to support that move in China and elsewhere abroad, you've got fucking trouble.
Take any massive money operation going on right now, and you'll follow the money back to foreign investors who actually MAKE money regardless of whether the scheme is working here at home. It doesn't matter if bank after bank after mortgage company loses money here. All of the final overseas loans are guaranteed by the Fed so foreign investors have nothing to lose. It's a major factor in why the dollar is so weak.
WOW did I go off on a tangent. WTF?

Quick as a wink. lolololol. God but Mary Poppins does come in handy when dealing with you.
Speaking of Number 1, would you like some? The last few shakes, perhaps? Hmm?
