Djing in live Recommendations

Post by SuperBassMexican » Sat Aug 30, 2008 9:38 pm

I've been checking out usb mixers. I've never done a dj set in live. Does any one have any tips on controllers and such. I have technics 1210s and a pmc vestax 2 channel mixer and a boat load of vinyl. SO any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

Do a search. That's what the button is there for.

Go to the ALDJ forum. It's all about DJing in Live.

I use an Allen & Heath Xone:2D and an M-Audio X-session Pro for DJing with Ableton Live.
I use the Xone for the audio interface, monitoring, tempo tap, scene select (jog wheel), triggering clips (button section), introducing external sources (decks, mics, what ever else), I use the faders, pots and encoders for effects.
I use the X-Session for mixing (eq, x-fade, channel volume).
If I had more finacial resources I would use a Pioneer DJM-700 or 800 for mixing, as the mixer section can be used as an analogue mixer or MIDI controller.
I like to be able to control the mixer section within Ableton so that I can record my sets with all the 'envelopes' so that I make adjustments to all mixing and effects during playback which is really useful for creating mixed sets for demos or just to practice refining my mix.

Let me know if you have any queries. I may not be to good at articulating myself this evening after some vinos.

If you want to save a bit over the A&H or Pioneer, you can roll with a UC-33E. That's what I just got. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks damn near perfect.
