iAXE 393 USB Guitar advice

Hey all...

Okay, here's my thing.. I just got this Behringer iAXE 393 USB guitar that I want to use with Live (i'm using 7.0.2 with Win Vista Home Basic). I've got the right drivers installed, which came from Behringer's website, except that I don't know how to use it as a MIDI controller.

I'm also using some Amplitube VSTi's in a trial period and would like to get this up and running. Currently, I've been using my M-Audio Oxygen 61 as my MIDI controller, but now I want to use this guitar. Can I do that, and, how? I seem to not be finding the right settings to change.

Help greatly appreciated!!!

midi input ?I've never used one but I dont think it can be used for midi input . Its audio only isnt it ?

Don't be silly, of course it can! This is 2008, not 1978. Haven't you ever heard of MIDI guitars? They've been around for a while now. Besides, I'm not even at the point of getting it to do audio. I'm desperate to find the right combination of settings to make it work..

SOMEONE...ANYONE ELSE?? I'm looking for solutions, people. Lots of people are reading this, but nobody informed is posting. Come on people!

Hi IrishDave,

sorry to disappoint you, but the iAxe393 is basically an inexpensive "1978" guitar with a build in audio interface. No midi at all.
I suggest reading the manual and contacting the Behring support in case of usability problems.

I hear Behringer is done with copying 1978 and now it's going 1979

I DID read the manual. I think it was more my assumption that it could be used as a midi controller because it sends its data via USB port. Silly me.

At any rate, even though the ASIO driver was correctly installed, I still don't know how to get any sound from it into a Live audio channel. I've examined all the settings I can find.

Is it possible that the driver doesn't work right beyond sending some basic information about the device itself to the PC?

Yeah dude. And I've also heard of midi pickups that are in thouse guitars

So the conclusion hopefully would've been that this stuff can be done with SOFTWARE now, instead of only by hardware. Obviously there's more than one way to determine what note's being played, won't you agree?
So, what's wrong with the idea of software that determines a pitch (as many software packages can do) as well as a note length, velocity and any other articulation that is handled by MIDI?? The answer is nothing. There's nothing wrong with thinking that. It doesn't HAVE to be just MIDI pickups anymore.

Beyond that, I didn't really want this to become a debate or discussion on the ins and outs (no pun intended) of using a guitar as a MIDI controller.
I wanted only the raw info on HOW it can be done, if it can..My system/setup is definitely not customized for audio processing and I'm realizing that I'll have more problems if I keep trying to do new things with such a simple computer. I should probably wait until I have the resources to build my own computer from scratch, customizing it to my liking in order to continue on with this guitar stuff.

I have heard of audio to midi plug ins but have read they really dont work well. Even proper midi hex pickups work with varing degress of success . The articulation of guitar just doesnt work well with midi IMHO .

After guitar audio prcessing is the best bet for synth sounds and guitars , again in my opinion
