Downloading now at CRAWLING speed. Guess the Access Music server is taking quite a hit.
OS 2.7.3 for Virus TI is available for download
09/02/2008
The wait is over ... after nine month OS 2.7 is available as a free download to every Virus TI user.
Press Release
02-September-2008
For immediate release
Recklinghausen, Germany - Access Music GmbH, the company behind the award winning Virus TI synthesizer series released OS 2.7 after an extensive public beta test. The new version, which is compatible with the entire Virus TI range including the Virus TI Snow, is a landmark in Access history of free feature OS updates.
It features Atomizer (a realtime glitch- and looper effect), a third USB buss to transfer more discreet audio channels in between the synth and the computer and support for multiple devices. It also adds Virus Control Center, a MacOS/Windows application which can backup and restore the memory content of the entire synth and overwrite the ROM banks with new sounds.
A detailed list of refinements and bug fixes can be found on the download page as well.
OS 2.7 is available free of charge to every Virus TI user

I'll check this list, and browse forums to see if all this stuff is really interesting... I have to admit I am a bit bored with access, and by my TI...
perhaps this new Os can make love reappear?
best regards
ps: anyone to explain me how to "quote" on this forum, I may be really dumb...

I've checked on the virusti.com and infekted.org forums, and there's still not much news, but most seem to be having no problems with the new OS.monstrejumo wrote:right !

I've gone through some mixed feelings with my TI as well, but I think most of it is due to gearlust for some other analog keyboards.
It is an incredibly flexible synth though which is great, but that in itself is a double edged blade, since all that flexibility just makes it a pain to navigate at times, especially when you don't want to use the Virus Control plugin. Too many options, and too many menus makes the simplicity of older (and not so old) analog synths really appealing.
Also, due to the fact that it has SO many features, I kind of found myself subconsciously trying to use them all up, hence overproducing many of my patches, ending up with some really complex, but not so inspiring sounds.
I'm still holding on to it, for now I think. Came REAL close to selling it and going for something like a Prophet 08 or a Poly Evolver, or even an Andromeda. But I don't want to end up regretting it... so, for now, i'll just stay calm and not do anything too impulsive.
Plus, over the past month or so, I've gone back to keeping it simple. Doing less menu diving and basically trying to stick to the basic front-panel controls and knobs, and I've attained much better, and more fulfilling results from it. So it's starting to grow on me again.

2.7.3 is running MUCH smoother than the beta1-4 releases. Some people are still experiencing bugs, but nothing out of the ordinary. I've been using OS 2.7.x since the public beta releases and loving the Atomizer and 3rd USB output. Virus Control Center looks very interesting as well, but have yet to dive into that and put it to use. Though, I haven't run into many of the bugs, having dozens of bug fixes is always nice.

aquatek, lukas, you are pushing me to a new upgrade
if it's even more stable than the 2.5.1...
@aquatek : I was thinking of selling it too, the actual price beeing enough high for me not to loose so much money (bought it 1690 euros in 2005)... was thinking of buying something less sofisticated, allowing me to reach easily to good sounds (was aiming at ATC 1X, moog voyager rack...)
but I like the multitrack ability of the Ti, and the huge ram bank that allow me to have lots of different live sets each with its own sounds, directly available without having to sample anything... despite the polyphony seems hugely reduced with some complex patches!
perhaps the new preset management center (virus control center) will simplify the patches storing manipulation, I'll have to have a look at it.
about the 3 usb outs : I'm used to use the analog outs, through my ultralite, then back to audio trax in live... but I meet some audio latency problems (not too big probs, but...).
do you think using the usb outs (and so using the VC, that I never used because of the several bugs encountered b the past), is a good idea for me?
what about the sound quality?
latency?
best regards

I've beens streaming all of my audio over the usb channels for about a year now. No problems whatsoever. No noticeable latency.monstrejumo wrote: do you think using the usb outs (and so using the VC, that I never used because of the several bugs encountered b the past), is a good idea for me?

the 2.7.3 update seemed to have fucked up some of the part levels in one of my projects... now that i think of it... in general, i think most Virus parts were much quieter.
Anyone else get this little problem?
other than that, rock solid... but still, kind of a pain to have to re-adjust the levels on a track that was pretty much already mixed down.
Why the fuck is it quieter?!?!?!?1
