Very good video and I don't even use Traktor... I do have the latest version and have messed around with it but it just really takes a lot of time to set it up the way you want it and would love to have the A&H mixer/controller that controller makes the program IMHO others don't come close......

RH would be good at putting together tutorial videos.. he explains things well.....

yup, he is part of Contakt. and whilst it all looks up its own arse, richie hawtin has down enough decent things to hold credibility. also the show he talks about where all the other M_nus guys are playing, is that Contakt show....and just look how immense the setup is. not many other ppl do shows to that level. but yeh the marketing is well over the top.

ive seen richie hawtin a few times, and hes an amazing dj. saw him do some insane mixes on 4 decks.

yeah.. its always this ambivalent feelings towards today's hawtin. the whole minus scene is a bit of a sell-out .. but the guy is so successful, it wouldn't make sense to pretend he's underground anymore. and when it comes to techno, production and djing - he is a champion.

I have a question:

Is he a producer or a DJ or both - I mean, does his write all of his tracks, or he´s also playing another producer´s stuff?

btw, he´s one of my main inspirations in electronic music, along with trentemoller.

he is both. as producer he's known as 'plastikman', 'fuse' and probably other names
he uses his real name for dj and the DE9 series ..

and by the way... the expensive "contakt" event (or however they spell it) has "traktor" all over it as sponsorship, which explains these 13 min. he enthusiastically invested in showing the world how great 'traktor' is. i'm sure this campaign has a huge impact on sales.

traktor aside..... would be good to see live gaining some more live/dj/performing features . have we mentioned that already some million times..? should be said again.

must say however protentious some of these new projects are, richie hawtin himself always appears very modest in all these interviews. m_nus are wkd tho. mark houle has some amazing tracks ('techno vocals' is a quality track.) and magda is also an amazing dj. def one of my favourite female djs.

i do hate a lot of this over the top stuff these superstar djs come out with. at sonar, jeff mills and the rings of saturn was the most rubbish thing ive eva witnessed. jeff mills had a massive (and ridiculously big budget) set whereby he was showing unseen video footage of the rings of saturn whilst he did a live performance to the footage. it sounded like something out of space odyssey...but really not what u wanna rave to. i mean if i want to b educated about the rings of saturn i would look at a science web site or book, not a techno producer/dj. wank wank wank.

still the contakt cube thing does sound quite interesting, and looking at their setup, it sounds like it could b worth checking out. hate the name and the concept so far....just the setup looks incredible, so im sure it would still b a goodon.

yeah, i got the x-102 rediscoevr saturn cd and its pretty wack. must say jeff mills is one of my all time greats, but seeing clips of the sonar event and listening to the cd, i would say im glad i missed this years sonar where he played saturn live. Djing though, mills is awesome.

as for hawtin, he get some slack, but he is a trailblazer for techno. as he says in that video (well paraphrasing him anyway), its easy to play 4 decks, but difficult to play 4 decks well. its a bit like conducting i suppose.

and i dont imagine that he is behind all the m_nus branding, but its probably his business manager etc.
