hi all,
for sampling purpose, I'd like to record some dialog from a dvd using windows media player (or whatever) into Ableton.
How can I go about doing that? My sound card is a M-Audio Delta 44.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

the easiest option would be to use a sound grabber. it'll record anything that's currently being output at your soundcard. then just save the file and use it in ableton.
google it, there are plenty of freeware recorders

What I do is route an 1/8 inch out of the headphone jack to a mixer to my audio interface (mbox 2), and set recording to in. Does this make sense?

it does, but I guess I'll stick with the way I was doing this before with Renoise.
Renoise has that functionality, it can record incoming audio from your sound card straight into its sampler. I though Ableton would allow this to be done in a similar fashion.
Thx for the help.

On the mac there's a program called soundflower which you can select as the os's output, then select the corresponding input within ableton.
Not sure if it's available on the PC too, if not i'm sure that there is something similar which I use to use.
MBP 2.4 & a shit load of Faderfoxes!

Thanks for the info, and yes, I just found an equivalent to Soundflower for PC, it's called Virtual Audio Cable

I'll try this tonight!

AudioHijack Pro on the Mac. That's the one you want! It records any sound on your computer into a usable audio file.
Sorted.
