Anyone got the UAD-2 already??

Post by FORMAT » Thu Sep 11, 2008 1:48 pm

Who on here has it? What are your first impressions?

Which one do you reckon would be the most sensible one to get? One of the Flexi Packs, or is that not too advisable for EU customers bec of the weak dollar?

Have a Quad since Monday.
Had some trouble wile installing (have 4 UAD1 as well but had to replace one cause my motherborad only has 2 PCIe slots).

After deinstalling all cards and the software, taking all cards out, reinstalling the software, putting back in all cards everything was fine.
Yesterday my UAD2 wasn´t recognized so i switched slots with another UAD1 PCIe and since then everything works fine.

I bought the Quad (not flexi) cause ihave nearly all plugin and there is a crossgrade promo wher you get 250$ for buying a UAD2 till the end of the year and another 50$ which comes within the usual UAD2 Pack = 300$ on my UAD-account :D

I'm waiting for the express card version.

It should also be mentioned that you have a year from release to crossgrade (or whatever) your current plug-ins to the new versions for free. After that it's going to be about $25 per plug. That's a year from when they released it, not from when you buy it. It's still early but the clock is ticking.

2 UAD-1 PCI and 1 UAD-2 QUAD PCIe and all existing plugins here

it works simply great (install v5 driver, install PCIe UAD-2 card, register the hardware & licence plugins on UA website and mix your project)

it give me a huge DSP power to complete heavy projects,

UA plugins are the best plugins i have ever heard,

UA have one of the best customer support i ever seen in the music business

Since I buy my UAD-2 I have 300 usd of voucher to buy the next Moog filter or the el fatso emulation.

UA is a wonderfull company, what else ?

a so happy customer since 4 years

Which ones, do you have specific info? Will wait until the issues have been addressed.

I got 2 x UAD-1, and a UAD-2 Solo on a brand new Intel Core2Quad and it runs like a dream! The "leap of faith" is that you can't demo the plugs until you have the DSP card, but after that you'll never look back. :D

I got the Solo flexi from JRR shop you can type "forum" in the coupon box if you're a UAD forum member which will give you a 10% discount, dollar is low, shipping is $43 with Fedex, computer parts are 0% import tarriff in the EU so you only pay your countries VAT (over the cost of goods plus shipping).
Worked out over 100Euros cheaper than getting it in Holland for me.

Something worth considering! :D

I'm always hesitant ordering from overseas... Will the savings be even greater when buying a Quad?

It is now the same as the DAW's audio buffer! "Progress has been made"
