microkontrol pads
microkontrol pads
hey,
i realize i'm being lazy by posting this question but i have extremely limited time for music-making these days. i broke out my mK last night for a half-hour of unadulterated music-making and could not get Impulse or a vsti to respond to the pads at all. i saw that midi messages were being received, and the mK keys were usable. i checked the pads to make sure i was at least trying one that was sending a message to C3 for the kick.
any ideas? when i first got the mK i tested the pads in Cubase and they worked fine. i'm damn sure i'm missing something. any help would be appreciated so that i can be a little more creative the next time i have a half-hour to devote to production.

A couple of things could be happening, BUT I bet it is the fact that the pads are sent by default to a second MIDI channel, and that needs to be set up in Live's preferences...
... or turn off the 2nd channel somehow.

15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

you may be better off with non-illuminated Akai pads. the guy who sold me the mK said he loved everything about it except the pad response. (i'm not too picky)

Re: microkontrol pads
i'm pretty sure there is a misprint in the manual... notes that work on my microkontrol are c4-c5 for impulseRx wrote: i checked the pads to make sure i was at least trying one that was sending a message to C3 for the kick.

i had the same problem. u gotta goto settings, pads, and change the midi # to c4 wich is 50 somethin...its in the mk manual...up to c5. make sure to save the settings. its a pain in the arse once let alone......

i tried all the pads, assuming that one of them would've been set for C4. it seemed that C3 on the keys worked. i'll give it another shot when i get the chance.
