embarrassingly stupid question about midi keyboard

Post by Robert » Thu Oct 28, 2004 7:36 pm

I have read the manual; honest, and have searched the forums. I think my question might be too stupid!

I have Live 4, and a UC -33e. I also have an evolution keyboard.

I have used a midi cable to connect the midi out from the keyboard to the midi in on the UC-33e.

When I press the keys, the midi light flashes on the bar of Live. So far so good- data is moving! But when I get Simpler loaded, with a sample, and press the keys, nothing comes out. How can I get my keyboard to play simpler?

I thought I would just need to plug it in and that would be it.

All help greatly appreciated. I wish I had a knowledgeable MIDI friend!

in the preferences for MIDI, you need to set your devices to use as a remote controls or live. From the drop down, you can select any available MIDI device displayed. In the MIDI track, you just go to the dropdown menu and select "MIDI from:" and your controller should be available on the dropdown menu.

thanks - that's great - all working now. it is funny how it is the simplest things like that which hardest to spot.
