Universal LFO effect

Post by dc43 » Wed Sep 17, 2008 8:18 pm

Idea description: It does not process the audio signal. You specify an effect or instrument and the parameter name, like when specifying for an envelope in a clip. The LFO modulates that parameter. you can even use an LFO on a parameter of another LFO etc.

Please make something like this, it's difficult to do this in a envelope, especially if you want a lot of parameters controlled like this and if you have lots of clips.

An LFO à la Renoise is my number one request for v8. In fact, if they included nothing new but that one request, I'd gladly upgrade.

There have been made dozens of topics about this, but it's always good to keep up the issue :)

YES

Its extrememly tedious to draw clip envelopes by hand, and they will never give the perfect shape of a sine wave, much less a sine wave modulated by another sine wave, for example. I would love LOVE lfo type control over any parameter than can be mapped to a macro knob when grouped in a rack for instance.

I just saw now that there is another thread started in june 2008. And also other places where people want this kind of functionality. I hope they make it.

this is the thread I meant
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... c&start=15

I didn't read that thread right now - no time... :)
But in this post http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 943#755943
actually in the image link posted in that post is an idea I had before: let us send CC's = enable us to use Live's envelopes (and this future generic LFO effect) to control external software/hardware (MIDI CC messages)? It would probably be very interesting to play with...

I know this was probably said before in some thread... no time to search... again :)
