Live has changed my life. Seriously. I went through 6 years without recording a song and now I'm working on a dozen new tunes that were all laid down with ease. A couple days tweaking and experimenting and I felt I was totally comfortable in Live.
Overkill? I guess it is when you discover you'll no longer need anything else.

Hrm, thanks adamjay. Nobody else has every come up with a solution for the count-in, in all the time i've been reading this board.

However, all other apps can do this without me buying more hardware (a midi pedal) and a midi interface. Why am I required to buy midi gear to do live instrument recording effectively?

well that was the "guitarist's" solution.
you can set the global quantize to whatever you want and not need additional hardware. just hit record on the clip either with a mouse or route a computer key to it. your global quantize setting will allow you however much count in beats you so wish to have. i was just extending on the guitarists analogy that had earlier been used.
