Anyone NOT a DJ Here?
Gimme a fuckin' break.
Someone starts a thread hatin' DJ's and all the lemmings jump on the bandwagon.
Lest you forget, LIVE would never have been created if Beat Matching hadn't become such a phenomenon. Err....LIVE is a tempo matching tool first and foremost.
I'm a DJ. A Producer. A songwriter. An artist. I love all aspects of music. I taught myself production in the 80's. Got on the radio, started a band, Toured. Got signed. Changed genres. Lost my label. Re-invented myself in Dance Music. Stopped touring. Killed the Band. Became a DJ. played the big clubs. The scene died. Back heavy in Production and song writing.
It's all about music. If you don't know how to blend beats on a pair of 1200's, you're truly missing something. Knowledge and a great experience. Especially if your music is beat based. Mixing is an art. No different than learning to play guitar or piano. (which I also have learned).
You fucking nitwits. Let your prejudice hold you back. No skin off my dick.
Proud to be a DJ!

I don't sense any hate, the Baron is just interested to know how different people use Live. At least that's how I understood it.Baron von Case wrote:...
However, this place seems to be overflowing with DJs and dance music. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Some of my favorite music is from this genre. There are few better listening experiences than some of Infected Mushroom's material, in my opinion.

With very few exceptions here, most of the non-DJs such as myself haven't said anything about DJs one way or the other...
That doesn't necessarily make it a DJ tool. ReCycle wasn't a DJ tool when it first was released either. I started using Live right after v1 was released for the flexibility it gave me in arrangements...Lest you forget, LIVE would never have been created if Beat Matching hadn't become such a phenomenon. Err....LIVE is a tempo matching tool first and foremost.
And an attitude like that promotes your cause? You fucking nitwits. Let your prejudice hold you back. No skin off my dick.

Yes, but ReCycle came out way before the birth of the digital DJ as we know him/her today; it was primarily developed to provide beat matching for Reason, and not as a DJ tool.ChiDJ wrote:Recycle was created to chop loops in order to use samples at varying tempos. IE - a beat matching tool. Nice Try.
Nice try...

I don't have time to give you a history lesson. Recycle was not created for Reason. Recycle was out several years before Reason even existed. It was a highly expensive stand alone program created in the 90's. It was revolutionary and had no competition for years. Before reason, we had to slice and dice manually to get our beats to line up in production or play em pitched down on our turntables.
The birth of the digital DJ? So Vinyl DJ's don't count?
You seriously just typed before thinking right?

I am just another self delusional, aspiring, producer trying to have musical and meaningful experiences blending various sounds and styles of music together.
I respect the "charisma" a dj can command at an event, but ultimately I prefer the creative end.

Live, Reason, Moog sub phatty, Moog sub 37, Ozone 6, guitars, Pedals, proper ergonomic sitting posture, french pressed coffee with a pinch of cardamon.

Ah- you're correct about the timeline; thanks for the history lesson. However, if you look at the 10th anniversary interview, they said that ReCycle was decveloped to work alongside traditional DAWs, and not as a DJ app per se...ChiDJ wrote:Dude, ewistrand wrote:Yes, but ReCycle came out way before the birth of the digital DJ as we know him/her today; it was primarily developed to provide beat matching for Reason, and not as a DJ tool.ChiDJ wrote:Recycle was created to chop loops in order to use samples at varying tempos. How are vinyl DJs going to use ReCycle? The birth of the digital DJ? So Vinyl DJ's don't count?
The same could be said in your case...You seriously just typed before thinking right?

why so heated?
i fucking hate dj's. bandying about like they are actually "musical"
how hard is it to entertain drug addled youth? hell, you could prolly entertain them with a slice of bread, inside of an elevator, jamming muzak. which is about what i relate anything a "dj" does to.
can't do anything original, i give more musical credit to a group of 3rd graders playing rock band. i give more credit to a toddler playing a xylophone. i give my flatulence more respect. i'd rather hear the moans of my wife, sleeping with another person, than ANY dj. low talent leeches. continue to justify your existence... you are all as worthless as the u.s. political system, except to yourselves.
dj's are the ambulance chasers of the music world.
