IK Multimedia Support

Post by IK_Support » Sat Sep 20, 2008 3:55 am

Hello all!

I work for IK Multimedia support and would like to introduce myself to everyone. Hi. I am here to answer questions and give support for IK products. Let me know if you got 'em!

Feel free to PM me or just reply here.

Just a lil background on me... I am a guitar and bass player by craft, enjoy recording, playing shows, and most anything music related. I live in the SoCal area and enjoy its sunny rays it has to offer.

Thanks and hope to meet some cool and interesting people here!

Just a quick kudos, Paul is quick to respond if you have a question. I might offer the suggestion that you drop current promotions here, your last buy one get one free plugin offer was great.

I bought SampleMoog and got T-racks free....both awesome.

Thanks for the quick kudos sublimelobc! Mmmm.. I love Kudos! lol

Yes its true, I have been with IK for some time now, so I may have worked with some of you Live'ers in the past! Very cool if you ask me!

I am not sure if I am allowed to post special offers and such, seeing as this is the Ableton forum. There are always specials going on with IK and if you are interested, please PM me or email me at [email protected].

Thanks for the warm welcome! Now.. who else do I know here?

Hello there,

Is it true that SonikSynth has a lot of the effects used by Genesis? Will there be any more after SS 2?

Can I get a discount? 8O

In fact, the whole of a Lamb Lies down on Broadway could not have been made with out it

Is this what we've come to? People realising that this forum is so vast, so instead of actually re-directing people to appropriate forums - every company will have their reps here. Wow. Weird.

haha, no I'm not quite THAT dumb...

I mean replicas of the patches from, say, Prophet 5, DX7, Pro Soloist, Mellotron, etc.

Hi Baron,

Tis true, as Homebelly has kindly posted. Pretty much the whole band uses IK software! There is a cool thread on KVR about the CEO of Sonic Reailty (who designs all the sounds for IK and many others) working with Genesis recently. Its a cool read for a fan, PM me for the links (I am not sure if I should/can post a link).

And yes, Sonik Synth 2 has a vast collection including samples from the Prophet 5, MelloTron, DX7, Jupiters, Moogs, and much more. Worth checking out.

Can you get a discount? If you have a previously registered IK plugin, you already get a nice discount! PM for details Baron!

Thanks.

Even though I think it is kind of weird that a support person from another company gives support here (OK, I am over it), I must say I actually quite like this approach! :)

Pretty soon you'll have Ableton support helping people out on Cubase.net, since that forum really could use some help, hehe.

I have a question:

Why do the amp sims (amplitube, hendrix and the bass emulation) run so processor heavy in Live on a mac?

Like about 4 or 5 of them kill my machine (core 2 duo Mk 2, 3 gigs Ram).

It's not a slow machine by any stretch of the imagination but surely I should get better performance, will the plugs be re-coded / optimised at any point?

Bgrds

TS

PS the soft is Ultra cool :) Just processor heavy.
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Paul,

I am very disappointed with IK Multimedia both as support and as a company.
in April 2005 I bought Expansion Tank Omni synth which came with SampleTank
LE 2 player in both Windows and Mac (Power PC) Version.
In 2006 after the Apple switch to Intel IK site was stating that Universal Binaries of its applications will be soon available on the web site. In November 2006 I got a Mac. Prior to doing that I wrote to support and Jason told me to wait until February or March. Then it came out the news that SampleTank LE has been dismissed, no upgrade path to Mac Users (UB). I asked for a special upgrade coupon to SampleTank (even a restricted one), Jason was telling me that I would have been contacted by Sales Support. I'm still waiting.
So IK Really pissed me off. Your being here means that Ableton Live user community is gaining momentum and expanding. Personally I do not like it because my experience with IK has been a nightmare. It's not fair to go fishing around, especially when you demonstrated that you are not a good company to have business with. The Support Level of Ableton is unmatched in the industry and it'll probably set the standard for many years to come. With IK I lost money and time. With Ableton I make Music.

With all due respect Pasha, if Jason had passed you onto another department, maybe your deal got lost in the pass over. I have no idea how IK's company departments are structured, but if they are anything like most then chances are the accounts and sales department probably isn't run by the warm cuddly version of the human beings. Maybe try writing to Jason again and ask if he can help?
Alternatively drop Paul a PM and mybe pass on any email correspondance you had with Jason, and maybe he can help.

I've had a few dealings with iK, what with computers going belly up and so on, and they have always been very cool.

No, No... This is nutz. Its an ableton forum. Why are we going to have IK threads here?

Shall I show up on IK multi-media.com and say:

"Hi everybody, my names Jon, I like trance and speed metal, but I also happen to work for ( XX company ) and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about problems you might be having with this product."

You know what would happen? An IK mod would go, SPAM!, and ban me, and possibly call the company I work for, and say, "wow that is totally rude."

This is a user forum, other users answer questions here, to play support games here, when you are not affiliated with this company is:

A) an intrusion on Ableton, and Ableton users who do not own IK products.

B) confusing to the "newbie" user.

and

C) going to cost IK multi-media a sale with this musician.

I think this is flat out rude.

You certainly do not see NI sales reps at Cakewalk.com

Maybe Ew, but he is an NI forum mod, and does not work for NI. You certainly don't see Chad from Cakewalk, posting here at Ableton.com.... You see, maybe Urs Heckman, come by and answer the Random question about Zebra, but Urs has his own company forum, and he certainly does not try to make Ableton.com his forum.....

Look at your wording here....

"I am just here to help support IK products in the numerous forums over the web."

Your kidding me!!

Do not begin to support IK products in this Ableton forum.

That is so annoying. You don't see me looking here for PSPAudioware Support. You don't see me looking here for Bias Support. You don't see me in here if I have a question about my car, or my cell phone....

I can't think of anything more rude, than another company invading a company forum with support threads.
too many lasers...
