CD-ROM:-why is importing from a cdr prhibited?

WHY CAN´T i IMPORT FILES/LOOPS DIRECTLY FROM A CDR DRIVE TO LIVE?
THE SOFT JUST ASWERS " IMPORTING FROM CD NO; FROM HDD IS OK"??????

Because the files are Read-Only and Live has no way of putting it's .asd files onto the media perhaps?

During playback, Live streams its audio clips directly from the hard drive, not from RAM.

You can preview clips from a CD ROM in the file browser, but the data throughput from a CD is not fast enough to support continuous looping in Live.

So if you a preview a clip from CD and want to add it to your song, you have to copy it to your hard drive first.

Don't know if newer versions will change this at all.
