my cat nearly hung itself in my studio

Post by Johnisfaster » Thu Sep 25, 2008 4:21 am

my cat was hanging out behind my monitors while I was jamming and the next thing I know he's fallen behind my mixer which is on top of a rack of effects with a huge mess of cables behind it and he starts screaming (or whatever the cat equivalent of screaming is) and I look under the desk and he's hanging upsidedown about 2 feet from the floor. it was kinda funny but it freaked my out cause I was worried he would pull something off the desk.

he's fine though, hurt his ego I think.

I think he was commiting suicide after listening to too much of my music :)
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

I live in a studio apartment with my cat, so theres no way to keep her away from the equipment and cables. Luckily i have trained her (over a few years) to keep off my keyboards and not to chew my cables.

It is nice to have her laying on my lap while doing a long mixing session.

If you feed quality food and brush your cat once a week you should hopefully notice substantially less hair every where. Cats really shouldn't shed very much if they are being fed good, have no allergies and aren't constantly stressed. purina, iams, pedigree etc etc are shit foods btw. I still kept my cats away from anything valuable though.

cats are mint
we foster them now and again for the cats protection society. we keep one for a month or so then give it back when they find it a full time home.
its totally free as they provide all the food, litter, vet bills etc.
most of the cats we've had have been great but sometimes one of them shits on the carpet one time too many so we just ring up and say 'this one doesnt work properly' and we take it back for another

ive got a big black purring furball sat on my lap at the moment

I love going out to my parents....my mom has a cool calico/persian mix, however long haired cats cough up some nasty furballs, which are every bit as nasty as dog dookie.

As far as cats and studios go, my mom's cat also has a habit of liking to chew on cables....luckily for her, she hasn't worked her way through one yet.

How cute would kitty be if she left a hairball or worse right on top of your most beloved piece of audio gear?

My cats dig music. They like to rock the vinyl, and stand on top of the powered sub.

they scaring me!
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

oh my god your cat is gorgeous!

i has this lovely cat which followed me and my girlfriend home and stayed with us for about a year and a half. one day she never came back. it broke our hearts. could have died, got lost or anything. i'll never know i guess.

this summer another little cat started hanging out with me while i was writing lyrics on my front step. she lived with us for a few months and was so affectionate. then she disappears as well. so painful to lose two beautiful cats in a year. we treated them like princesses as well. such a fucking shame.
