Older versions of Live 7 - Buggy 7.0.10

Post by psychohagis » Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:53 am

Ive just installed live 7.0.10 on my new laptop. I've had some problems with it and was worried it was vistas fault, however their seems to be quite a few complaints of bugs in 7.0.10

Is their a way I can download an older version until they fix the newer versions?

FYI - I am having problems with living crashing when I try and open an existing live set - anyone else experiencing this?

Hi,

do you have the problem with one specific Liveset only? In this case, please try if you are able to open the set after disabling VST plug-ins in Live´s file/folder preferences.

Best,

Roll back to 7.0.9 until a new bugfix is out!

that appeared to work.

So im guessing this means some of the VSTs i have arent compatible with vista.

Or live doesnt like running them with vista.#

What should I do now d'u suggest? Because I have some live sets that rely on these plugins (well obv)

Did you identify the plugins that cause the crash? If you name them someone here could maybe comment on wether they have them running on their system. Are we talking Vista 32 or 64 here?

vista 32 but that wasnt the problem.
I've solved it now and I will share it with u guys.

The VST was String Theory 1.5 by ugo audio
Apparently their is a known compatibility issue with dual core processors and multiple instances of the VST.

The workaround I discovered on their forums is to make multiple copies of the vst and rename them using a different one on each track.

I had to do this on my old computer since I couldnt even open the set on my laptop and then copied the modified set and now it works.

Thanks for your help anyway guys.

Just switched back to 7.07 because 7.10 was so buggy...

Post by djoliverm » Sun Sep 28, 2008 5:28 pm

Hey guys, I had stopped making music for a while and got back to it last week. In the meantime I had updated Live to 7.10 (like I usually do, thinking the latest versions will always be better). Long story short, it is extremely buggy. Even just running one instance of Jupiter 8-V brought Live to its knees, with 2048 (the max) as my buffer. Thankfully I always keep old versions of Live in my Applications folder (just in case, and good thing they always install in their own version folders) and am running 7.07 and everything is fine.

P.S. This wasn't an issue of running out of CPU, I'm at 40% on one particular song and I have just done side by side comparisons of 7.07 and 7.10 and the only difference is the version number so it has to be it.
