the rule in IT is for 3 copies.
Your main PC. an external backup either on removable media or a hard disk.
Then another backup OFF SITE, in case of theft or fire for the first two copies.
If you dont run 3 copies, then its absolutely a matter of WHEN and not IF youll lose data.
fortunately, storage is insanely cheap at the moment!
