Should I learn REAPER??
Should I learn REAPER??
Any advantages?
iMac - 10.10.3 - Live 9 Suite - APC40 - Axiom 61 - TX81z - Firestudio Mobile - Focal Alpha 80's - Godin Session - Home made foot controller
But is that really an advantage? Or is it just a point of difference?ausgeno wrote:The fact you can run it off a memory stick without installing it is pretty good.

why dont you try it out?
i like it a lot. Im using it as pretty much a multi track tape recorder, for which use its very easy. if youre looking to track real instruments then its a great and easy solution. if youre looking for an electronic music sequencer then Live is better.

Thanks for that. It's somewhat up to speed on Windows.
But compared to Live, or Logic it's a lean program.
For recording and doing it econo, Folks dig it.
But to answer you original question..... no. I see no advantages

I've got an eye on reaper and i think it rocks.
Its not a case of you get what you pay for, it isn't some lame assed free ware app with a cool GUI and half baked code underneath. If you want a full commercial license then your going to pay almost as much as you would for any of the "Pro" DAWS.
The program its self is still growing, but it has more than enough to do what just about every one wants it to do, it has a great feature set, at least on windows, the mac version is a longgggg wayyyy off yet,,, it works well with most sound cards and has some very cool plugs and editing abilities, all in all its a great lineal recording environment. I'm not so sure it can run of a memory stick, i think that might be Energy XT,, another cool tool to look into if your looking for a cheap but good DAW, although E XT is a little more esoteric that Reaper.
Any hoo,,,Down load it and give it a shot.
I put my cousin onto it and he loves it.

I am curious and will give it a go. As things progress and I am getting the hang of things, I find I am exploring a little more. I am not sure where I am heading. I definitely want to track real instruments. I do notice that people seem to be familiar with more than one significant DAW for various reasons. Just looking for hints so I can find mine. Thanks AP_.adventurepants_ wrote:why dont you try it out?

I think you should start a blog about your REAPER experience. Perhaps you could start with this thread, simply document the thread. Then waffle on for a page or two, then just use the demo like every other right-minded individual on the planet, then waffle on a page or two about that, then waffle on some more, perhaps humanise the piece with an anecdote about a cat. or a dog.

Actually, you were the one that made me aware of it early this year. I have been looking through the users guide and am gelling with it quite well. Interestingly, it seems to like my Alesis i/O14. I have no idea what files it uses for the sample song, but it plays back 12 tracks at 198 samples 5.4ms on my P4 lappy (that is now being shelved for my new Quad). I can't get 3 audio and 1 midi track to play back on 6LE under 768 samples.Homebelly wrote:I've got an eye on reaper and i think it rocks.
