Quite simple - you use the VST version. When you install GR3, there is a DLL that goes into your VSTPlugins folder. Then in Live, you just insert GR3 in an audio track, hit the record button for the track, and make sure the input for the track has your guitar signal coming into that input on your audio card.
Keep in mind that your guitar requires a hi-z input (a high impedance input). If your soundcard doesn't have this, you'll need a direct input (DI) box that converts your guitar signal to a signal that you can input into most line-level sound cards. You can get a good DI for around $80-100

These may help as well...

Well, I'm not going to re-run the installer to see the exact process, although that might be in the OM for GR3, but basically here what needs to happen...poolmaniac747 wrote:thanks for your advice.
as im very new to this can you please advise what u need to do in simple (idiotic) terms.
thanks again
1) First, do you have a folder that you keep all of your VST files in for Live? If you are not sure, you can check that out by launching Live and reviewing Options > Preferences > File Folder > VST Custom Folder. If you don't have one, make one. (somewhere easily accessible)
2) During the install of GR3, you will be presented with check boxes that allow you to also install plug-in files...VST, DXi, and RTAS are the available plug-in files you can use with GR3. VST is the one you want. You will then be prompted to select where this VST file should be installed, or GR3 installer can search for it for you. Put it in the VST folder you use for Live.
If you didn't do that, you'll probably be able to re-launch the installer, and install the VST file where it needs to be.
If you've already installed the VST (.dll) file somewhere else, you can just cut and paste the .dll to the correct folder.
For more complete instructions, please consult the NI Setup Guide that came with your GR3 software.

When you are looking at LIVE on the left hand side are a bunch of icons.poolmaniac747 wrote:hi guys,

If you have set up your preferences properly then live will have scanned your VST folder.
One of these icons is a small plug, these are LIVE's plugins, the one under it is a small file, these are your system/VST plugs..
Take a look in there, when you find the GR3 name, drag it onto an audio track..
I suspect that you are trying to use the standalone version of GR, not the plug.
To find out more, dig into the manual...
