Interesting article. Roberts is suggesting ending US wars and greatly reducing the military budget in order to finance a bailout. Now there is an intelligent solution being proposed!

I liked the part in the Obama/McCain debates when McCain was going on about Obama's few billions in earmarks or something, and Obama finally brings up the nearly trillion dollar war that McCain supports. Nice!

According to Ron Paul, eliminating the income tax could be paid for by eliminating overseas military bases....now there's a thought!

The US government would not be able to pursue it's hegemonic goals, and I would get a 25% wage increase. Alternatively, there could be no tax cut and the US could live within it's means.

how would that effect the regions where those bases are? Ron Paul is an idealist.

Good question. Personally I think that regardless of the results on the 'world stage' the answer would be worth it.

Greed, irresponsible borrowing, and individuals living beyond their means have finally caught up with the US, with global repercussions.

I don't understand all of the details, but I hope that the bailout doesn't happen. I'd rather see people have the discipline to live within their means without borrowing.

Easier said than done, I know. It's going to be a bumpy ride, but the end result will be a forced re-evaluation of our morals and values. We didn't have the responsibility to do it voluntarily, so now it's forced upon us.

I realize that the UAE isn't the real world, but I don't think irresponsible borrowing and living beyond one's means are an issue here like in the US. And it's not all rich folks here.

I don't know enough about it, though...

Page 300 of the current Senate version features a nice little section on exempting certain small wooden shafts used for children's arrows from excise taxes. I'm relieved to know that is in there!
